Greetings, fellow sonic adventurers! Your friendly neighborhood bard here, reporting live from the trenches of musical creation. Or, you know, my slightly messy apartment.
Big news, folks! The album, the myth, the legend… Azure Obscura is almost ready to unleash itself upon the world. That’s right, the 14 songs are written! That’s like, a lot of songs. I’ve been scribbling lyrics, strumming chords, and generally making a nuisance of myself for months.
For those of you keeping score at home, we’re diving headfirst into a musical pool of adventure, love, the occasional ancient deity, and enough hidden meanings to make a cryptographer weep. Think blues-rock with a classical guitar twist, a dash of jazz, and a whole lot of me.
The band is assembling! Rehearsals are commencing! We’re aiming to record a single soon, which means you might actually hear something before the heat death of the universe.
In the meantime, I present to you a live acoustic version of one of the songs, “Beautiful Hurt.” Consider it a sonic appetizer, a musical amuse-bouche, a… well, you get the idea. Enjoy! And stay tuned for more updates (and hopefully, actual music) soon!

We’re all stories
When the original 1927 film, Metrolopis, was released it was a “Box office disappointment. Upon its re-release in later years it gained critical acclaim and became recognized as a classic of science-fiction. The difference? Music.
The story was engaging and the acting quite good for the period, it lacked a synchronised score. The addition of music gave the audience a foundation to support the pathos of the story.
“You are the hero of your own story”
The phrase “You are the hero of your own story” is a powerful reminder that we are the authors of our own lives. It encourages us to take ownership of our choices, embrace our challenges, and strive for our own personal growth. As Maya Angelou said, “You may encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated. In fact, it may be necessary to encounter the defeats, so you can know who you are, what you can rise from, how you can still come out of it.” While it’s important to remember that we are not islands unto ourselves, and that our actions impact others, this phrase can be aspirational if we use it as a springboard to become the best versions of ourselves. As Paulo Coelho wrote, “When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.” This doesn’t mean we can achieve anything we want, but it does mean that we have the power to shape our own destinies through our choices and actions.
And while it’s true that you are at least the main character of your story, it’s important to remember that…
You are a supporting role to those close to you
To love the ones around you, you have to realize that they are their own story, not just a part of yours. You are a character in their play. The best you can do is live as authentically as you can so that your character in their story is reasonably close to the character you think you are in your own.
Our stories require music
We all live out these great stories. Stories of struggle, of love, of triumph, adventure, and some are tragedies. Throughout all of them there is music without which our stories would be just as unbearable to ourselves as Metropolis was in 1927.
